Exhibition poster

With the study exhibition The circle or life and death — rings from the Medieval archaeological collection of the Sombor City Museum, we are marking the 140th anniversary of museum activity in these areas.

The exhibition will be opened from May 18th to July 1st 20203 in the thematic exhibition hall of the Sombor City Museum.

A bit more about the exhibition

The archaeological exhibition presents the entire systematized collection of rings from the collection of Medieval jewelry from the City of Sombor Museum for the first time. The rings were collected from the very beginning of the formation of the City of Sombor Museum archaeological collection from the territory that covers the area of Bačka today. The circle of life and death is painted by ring specimens dating from the late 8th to the early 19th century, and the most represented are the rings from the archaeological excavations, which provided basic material displayed at the exhibition.

The exhibition The circle or life and death — rings from the Medieval archaeological collection of the Sombor City Museum is a continuation of the study research that we are presenting on a smaller scale on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the museum activity of the Sombor City Museum. The overview of the rings contributes to a better understanding of the museum collection and gives a stimulus to the continuation of the archaeological research in the area of Bartan locality in Bački Monoštor.

Expert exhibition guidance terms: Wednesday, 7 June at 5 pm and Saturday, 24 June at 12 nn. The exhibition will be interpreted to the audience by the author of the exhibition Viktorija Uzelac, section curator archaeologist.
